Some homes are designed to impress. This one was designed to exhale in.
From the moment those navy shutters peek through the trees, you get the feeling: this place is different. Tucked behind a white picket fence, framed by blooming hydrangeas and leafy trees, the Edgartown Jewel Box feels like a postcard come to life: classic, charming, and full of quiet character.
Small in scale, big on soul. Every inch of this home was thoughtfully designed to support a slower, more connected way of living. Let’s take a look inside.
There’s nothing showy here. Just a warm welcome that sneaks up on you in the best way.
The facade blends coastal New England tradition with a playful wink: white clapboard siding, navy shutters, copper gutters, and cedar shingles that will silver beautifully over time. A bright red Moke parked out front hints at the fun that lives inside.
Around the home, layered landscaping keeps the look relaxed and natural. Hydrangeas, lush greenery, and mature trees offer privacy without feeling boxed in. It’s the kind of front yard where kids might sell lemonade in the summer and friends gather before a walk to town.
The kitchen is the heartbeat of the house, and in this one, it’s working overtime.
Anchored by a four-seat island with woven rattan stools, it’s where pancakes happen on Sunday mornings and oyster shucking kicks off cocktail hour. The white cabinetry and subway tile keep things timeless, while the warm wood finishes and brass accents bring in texture and depth.
One of our favorite coastal interior design ideas? The built-in banquette under a wall of windows, upholstered in custom nautical fabric. It’s the kind of spot that starts with coffee and ends in conversation hours later.
Just beyond the kitchen, the living room is equal parts polished and lived-in.
Skylights and French doors flood the space with natural light, while crisp shiplap walls and tailored upholstery reflect it beautifully. Soft neutrals keep the mood airy, while layered textures—leather, linen, woven wood—add warmth and grounding.
There’s a brick-framed fireplace at the center, framed by built-ins and anchored by a pair of cozy sofas. Whether it’s a breezy July morning or a snowy December night, this room is ready to hold it all.
Head out back, and the Jewel Box shifts into vacation mode.
Proof that small outdoor spaces can still make a big statement, this backyard is all about layered function. A plunge pool sits at the center, wrapped in bluestone pavers, soft plantings, and striped loungers that feel straight out of a Slim Aarons photo.
There’s a grill tucked off to the side, a fire pit waiting for cool evenings, and just enough space to gather without feeling crowded.

Just beyond the patio, the pool house doubles as a guest retreat.
Originally part of the property’s historic structure, the town required us to keep it—and we were more than happy to oblige. With a little reimagining, we transformed it into a fully functional guest retreat with charm to spare.
Downstairs, you’ll find a bedroom, a full bathroom, and laundry. Upstairs: a cozy living room, powder room, and airy loft.
Vaulted ceilings, white shiplap, and just the right amount of navy give the space a classic coastal edge—no anchors required (okay, maybe just one for fun). A striped rug and vintage-style map nod to the island setting, while French doors bring in the breeze.
Despite its compact footprint, the layout is open, efficient, and full of personality. It’s coastal interior design at its best: thoughtful, timeless, and undeniably charming.
Upstairs, the bedrooms lean into quiet luxury.
In the primary suite, soft tones, crisp trim, and light-filtering shutters set a calming tone. Simple bedding and thoughtful architectural details create a space that feels grounded, but never heavy. Meanwhile, a built-in reading nook offers the perfect spot to curl up and exhale.
Guest bedrooms continue the story with layered textures, natural wood, and that just-right blend of coastal ease and refinement. Instead of shouting “beach house,” the details whisper a softer message: settle in, stay awhile.
The bathrooms feel intentionally understated, but the details tell a different story.
Each one features custom vanities, polished nickel hardware, and shiplap walls that keep things bright and classic. Black-framed glass showers and artisan tile bring in a little contrast, without stealing the spotlight.
It’s quiet luxury in the best sense: nothing feels overdone, and everything just works.
When you distill great coastal home design down to its essentials—flow, functionality, beauty—you get something like the Edgartown Jewel Box.
Every inch of this home was carefully considered to support the way real people live. It’s about how the sunlight hits the floor in the morning, where the coffee mugs go, and how the house feels when it’s filled with laughter.
At Salty Havens, we don’t just design beautiful homes. We design homes that work hard behind the scenes—so you can focus on what matters most: gathering, relaxing, and making memories that last.
